In this beginner-friendly workshop, you’ll get an introduction to key woodworking tools and techniques while crafting two standout pieces: a sleek wooden tray and a beautiful glued-up charcuterie board. Whether you're new to woodworking or looking to expand your skills, this course is the perfect place to start.
What You'll Experience:

Hands-On Learning: Focus on practical, real-world woodworking skills. Our experienced instructors will guide you through each project, answering questions and providing support as you go.

Project Focus: You’ll complete two exciting projects—a functional wooden tray and a multi-wood charcuterie board—designed to boost your confidence and reinforce core skills.

Skill Building: Along the way, you’ll learn:
- Tool and machine setup
- Layout drawing and accurate measurements
- Rough cutting and squaring stock
- Joinery techniques (45° miters, dados, biscuits)
- Using routers, dowel jigs, and Kreg pocket jigs
- Setting up stop blocks for precision
- Glue-ups, sanding, and applying a Tung oil finish

Advanced Techniques: When working on the charcuterie board, you’ll also learn how to handle face-to-face and edge-to-edge gluing, square up large panels, and finish your project with food-safe oils.

No prior experience is necessary, just a desire to learn new skills! Additionally, you'll receive a complimentary membership for the wood shop at NewMakeIt during the class term, which will give you extra time to work on projects and build your skills.
Please note that this workshop will take place both in a classroom and in a workshop, so you'll receive an email regarding appropriate clothing and we provide you with safety equipment.
