NewMakeIt gives makers a bright shared place to throw, build, trim, glaze and keep going from one piece to the next, without having to fit a wheel and kiln into the house.

Ways to make
More than one way to work with clay.
Explore the wheel, build by hand or bring colour and surface to your work through glazing and finishing.
Wheel throwing
Centre, open and shape clay on the wheel to create cups, bowls, vessels and forms that carry the mark of the maker.
Handbuilding
Build functional or sculptural work using slabs, coils, pinch forms and other hands on techniques.
Glazing and finishing
Add colour, texture and personality as pottery moves from formed clay to a finished piece.

If you know what you want to make but do not have the room, wheel or kiln at home, the studio supports wheel throwing, handbuilding, glazing and ongoing practice for eligible Access Pass holders.

Pottery workshops give first time makers a welcoming introduction and help returning makers build skills. Titles and descriptions show the experience expected.
Beginner Experience
A relaxed first introduction for anyone who wants to try pottery without committing to a longer course.
Beginner Level 1
No previous experience required. Learn studio basics, tools and foundational techniques through a guided project or course.
Beginner Level 2 and Beyond
Continue developing skills after Level 1 through more involved forms, techniques and independent practice.
