What you will learn.

Build on your existing MIG knowledge while learning the coordination and control required for TIG.

01 / Prepare

TIG safety and setup

Set up the machine, torch, shielding gas and material for a controlled weld.

02 / Coordinate

Control torch and filler rod

Practice the hand coordination, angle and pacing used to manage the weld pool.

03 / Refine

Build clean practice welds

Use progressive exercises to improve consistency, penetration and appearance.

04 / Apply

Complete a small project

Bring the techniques together in a guided project you can take home.

Precision-focused instruction

Massis Roshanian guides participants through TIG setup, torch control and each progressive exercise, with individual feedback as the work moves toward the final project.

Workshop details.

Beginner Level 2

Complete Basic MIG Welding first or bring equivalent MIG welding experience.

Age 16+

A parent or guardian must sign the waiver for participants under 18.

Materials included

TIG equipment, steel, workshop consumables and required safety equipment are provided.

Location

NewMakeIt, 621 Timothy Street, Newmarket, Ontario.

Come workshop ready

Wear long-sleeved cotton or other natural-fibre clothing, long pants and sturdy closed-toe shoes. Avoid synthetic or loose clothing, remove jewellery and secure long hair. NewMakeIt provides welding helmets, safety glasses, gloves, earplugs and other required workshop PPE.
