Create your own ceramic Christmas ornaments using beginner-friendly hand-building techniques. Shape, texture and decorate your pieces to add a personal touch to your tree or give as thoughtful handmade gifts. No previous pottery experience is needed.

Shape your ornaments
Prepare your clay and create festive ornament shapes using beginner-friendly hand-building techniques.
Add texture and details
Explore textures, patterns and small decorative details, and add openings for hanging your finished ornaments.
Decorate the surface
Add colour and personal touches to make your ornaments feel uniquely yours.
We finish it for you
NewMakeIt glazes and fires your ornaments for pickup in approximately two weeks.

Your starting point
Beginner Level 1
No previous pottery experience is needed. Katie demonstrates each step and helps you shape, texture and decorate your Christmas ornaments.
More experienced potters are welcome and can use the session to explore a new form, texture or design idea.
New Horizons for Seniors Program
Affordable workshops for adults 55+
The $34.95 + HST registration rate is available to adults aged 55 and over through funding from the Government of Canada’s New Horizons for Seniors Program.
Participants under 55 are welcome to register at the regular price of $89.95 + HST. Please bring valid photo identification if you are registering at the Creative 55+ rate.
What is included
NewMakeIt clay, studio tools, decorative materials, instructor guidance, glazing and firings are included. Outside clay is not used in this workshop.
Workshop details
- One three-hour session
- Maximum eight participants
- Ceramic Christmas ornaments to keep or give as gifts
- Pickup approximately two weeks later
Come workshop ready
Wear closed-toed shoes and comfortable clothing that can get messy. Do not wear loose clothing. Long hair must be tied back. Shorter nails make working with clay easier.
