Have a broken household item that you’ve been meaning to fix? Repair Café gives York Region residents the opportunity to bring items back to life with help from skilled volunteer fixers—for free. Whether you need guidance, tools or space, our fixers will assess your item and do their best to help.

To guarantee your spot, registration is highly recommended. Tell us what you are bringing so the team can plan for the right tools and volunteer skills.

BRING IT INWe can fix
Our Repair Café specialties include:
- Bicycles
- General household items
- Small appliances
- Electronics
- Jewellery
- Small sewing repairs, such as tears and buttons
PLEASE LEAVE AT HOMEWe can’t fix
We are unable to accept:
- Broken zippers
- Hems and alterations
- Gas-powered machinery, including chainsaws, lawnmowers and snow blowers
- Items containing hazardous materials such as gas, oil, chemicals or pesticides
- Large kitchen appliances
- Sewing machines
- Single-serve coffee machines, including Keurig and Nespresso machines
- Some jewellery repairs
Specific jewellery repairs depend on the volunteer fixers available at that event.
IMPORTANTPlease keep in mind
Repairs are provided free of charge by volunteer fixers. They will do their best, but repairs are not guaranteed.
- Fixers may decline an item at their discretion.
- Fixers are not responsible for items that cannot be repaired or do not function afterward.
- Already-disassembled appliances do not have to be reassembled.
- Visitors must take home items that cannot be repaired.
- Visitors must provide any required new parts or materials.
- Bringing the needed replacement part may improve the chance of completing the repair.
Visitors bring items to Repair Café at their own risk.
