Prepare the mould, participate in the controlled pour and take home the casting created during the session.

Safety and PPE

Set up a safe working area and understand the protective equipment required for molten metal.

02 / Understand

Metals and melting points

Compare common casting metals and learn how temperature affects the process.

03 / Build

Prepare the mould

Set up the mould and review the path the liquid metal will follow.

04 / Pour

Cast with control

Follow the supervised pour, cooling and safe removal of the finished piece.

Meet Mark.

Safety-led instruction

Mark Reeves guides the group through equipment setup, mould preparation and each stage of the melt and pour. The small class size keeps the process supervised and easy to follow.

Workshop details.

Beginner Level 1

No previous metal melting or casting experience is required.

Age 16+

A parent or guardian must sign the waiver on the first day for participants under 18.

Materials included

Casting materials, workshop consumables and required safety equipment are included.

Location

NewMakeIt, 621 Timothy Street, Newmarket, Ontario.

Come workshop ready

Wear a long-sleeved shirt and long pants made from natural fibres, plus closed-toe sturdy shoes, preferably leather. Secure long hair and avoid loose clothing or accessories. NewMakeIt provides the required safety glasses, gloves, hearing protection and other workshop PPE.
