Each participant can work on a different project. Paul helps define a realistic scope, material plan and fabrication path for the available workshop time.

The first session establishes the plan; the remaining sessions focus on building, adjusting and finishing the project.

Define the project

Choose a realistic idea, confirm dimensions and determine the welding and fabrication steps required.

02 / Materials

Build a cut and material list

Identify the steel, consumables and preparation needed before fabrication begins.

03 / Fit and weld

Assemble with control

Prepare, position and tack the components before completing the required welds.

04 / Refine

Solve problems and finish

Make controlled adjustments and use appropriate finishing steps to complete the project.

Project guidance from plan to finish

Paul Dance helps each participant turn an idea into a workable fabrication plan, then provides individual support as the projects move through fitting, welding and finishing.

Workshop details.

Beginner Level 2

Complete Basic MIG Welding first or bring equivalent MIG welding experience.

Age 16+

A parent or guardian must sign the waiver for participants under 18.

Project materials

Bring suitable steel or purchase the required material from NewMakeIt for approximately $100, depending on the project.

Location

NewMakeIt, 621 Timothy Street, Newmarket, Ontario.

Come workshop ready

Wear long-sleeved cotton, denim or other flame-resistant natural-fibre clothing, long pants and sturdy closed-toe boots. Avoid synthetic or loose clothing, remove jewellery and secure long hair. NewMakeIt provides welding helmets, safety glasses, gloves, earplugs and other required workshop PPE.
