Meet the Instructors:
Jenny Wiesel

From 2017 to 2025, Jenny taught ceramics at the Prosserman JCC and Schwartz/Reisman Centre, creating and delivering programs for children, teens, families, and adults with special needs. Her instruction included hand-building techniques, specialty projects, glazing techniques, kiln operation, and firing processes.

Since September 2025, Jenny has been teaching Grade 12 Visual Arts at TBY, where she develops curriculum-based lesson plans aligned with Ontario Ministry of Education standards. She teaches the history and evolution of ceramics while guiding students through handbuilding techniques such as pinch pots, coiling, sculpting, and slab construction, as well as underglazing and firing preparation.

In January 2026, Jenny began teaching handbuilding ceramics at the Bernard Betel Centre, and since May 2026, she has been leading wheel-throwing workshops at NewMakeIt. She continues to actively teach in both programs.

Jenny has been passionate about throwing pieces since the beginning of her learning experience in 2013. Experimenting with glazes, oxides and other materials reactions has open curiosity and flexibility in the outcome of the pieces. Throwing has made her follow the path of creating purposeful pieces while hand-building allows for grater flexibility.

Drawing from her combined background in fine arts, education, and design, Jenny fosters a supportive and engaging learning environment that encourages creativity, technical skill development, and artistic exploration through clay.
