Description:
CNC routers are computer-controlled machines widely used in woodworking and other industries for precision cutting, drilling, and more. This hands-on workshop will guide you through the entire process—from designing your project in software to operating a CNC router safely and efficiently.
Workshop Schedule:
Day 1 – Design with VCarve Pro
Learn the fundamentals of VCarve Pro software and how to translate your ideas into CNC-ready designs. You’ll get a solid foundation in creating toolpaths, selecting materials, and planning your project. By the end of the day, you’ll have a homework assignment to complete a small design project to prepare for machining.
Day 2 – Project Review & Machine Operation
Bring your completed project and review it with the instructor. Learn problem-solving techniques, refine your design, and get hands-on experience running the CNC router. This day focuses on applying your design knowledge to real-world machining while learning best practices for safety, setup, and tooling.
Day 3 – Certification & Advanced Techniques
Demonstrate your understanding and skills to earn certification for our CNC router. You’ll also explore advanced tips for optimizing performance, troubleshooting, and finishing your projects to a professional standard.
What You’ll Learn:
- Basics of CNC routers and how they operate
- Using VCarve Pro to design and program CNC operations
- Safe and efficient setup and operation of a CNC router
- Techniques for creating complex designs and shapes
- Best practices for material selection, tooling, and finishing
- Tips for troubleshooting and optimizing CNC router performance
By the end of the workshop, you will have gained practical experience using a CNC router and VCarve Pro software, and leave with the skills and confidence to create your own CNC projects.
Who This Workshop Is For:
Hobbyists, makers, and professionals looking to expand their skills and explore the full potential of CNC routing.
Prerequisites:
No prior experience with CNC routers or CAD/CAM software is required, but familiarity with basic woodworking tools and concepts is recommended.
