Description:
Day 1: Throwing on the Wheel
Master centring!
In the first class, students will build on the skills they developed in their level 1 workshops by becoming more confident in their abilities to centre their clay. This will allow for greater understanding in the following weeks when they tackle more difficult projects.
Day 2: Throwing on the wheel
Making larger pots!
In the second class, students will use larger balls of clay to create bigger pieces. Focus will be on throwing larger bowls and mugs.
Day 3: Trimming
Trim your larger pots!
In the third week students will learn new trimming techniques to enhance the aesthetic of their larger forms. They will also be given the chance to attach handles to any mugs they created in week two.
Day 4: Throwing
Learn something new!
In week four, students will learn a new skill, such as throwing lids for jars. Students will create a jar and then learn how to measure their pieces to fit their lids.
Day 5: Trimming
Trim your jars!
In week five students will use their trimming skills to trim their lids and jars. They will also learn how to assemble and attach knobs to their wheel thrown lids.
Day 6: throwing
A day just for you!
Day six will be used to focus on a self determined goal with guidance from their instructor. Students can pick a task that they want to learn more about or feel they need further assistance with such as vases or unique shapes.
