Current project
Solid wood hall table
James’s workshop focuses on a hall table with square legs, dado-detailed side skirts and a top attached to allow for seasonal wood movement.

What you will learn.
Move from rough material to accurate furniture components, durable joints and a finished project.
Read and prepare
- Read and interpret design drawings
- Rough breakout and square lumber
- Prepare random-width stock accurately
Build furniture components
- Edge-to-edge panel glue-ups
- Face-to-face glue-ups for legs
- Accurate dados and repeatable parts
Join and assemble
- Mortise-and-tenon joinery
- Dowels and pocket holes where appropriate
- Allow for seasonal wood movement

Materials included
Workshop wood, consumables and finishing materials for the instructor project are included.
Class term shop access
Complimentary woodshop membership during the class term gives you additional project time.
Age 16+
A parent or guardian must sign the waiver on the first day for participants under 18.
Location
NewMakeIt, 621 Timothy Street, Newmarket, Ontario.
Wear closed-toe shoes and clothing with no loose fabric. Long hair must be secured in a bun. Bring safety glasses and hearing protection if you have them. NewMakeIt provides safety glasses, earplugs and other required safety equipment for anyone who needs them.
