What you will learn.
The course moves from careful setup to accurate joinery and a finished project you can use.
Measure and prepare stock
- Layout drawing and accurate measurements
- Rough cutting and squaring material
- Machine setup and safe operation
Create accurate joinery
- 45° mitres, dados and biscuit joints
- Routers, dowel jigs and pocket hole jigs
- Stop blocks for repeatable cuts
Assemble and finish
- Panel and edge gluing techniques
- Flattening and sanding
- Applying a protective oil finish

Wood, consumables and finishing materials for both class projects are included.
Class term shop access
Complimentary woodshop membership during the class term gives you additional project time.
Age 16+
A parent or guardian must sign the waiver on the first day for participants under 18.
Location
NewMakeIt, 621 Timothy Street, Newmarket, Ontario.
Wear closed-toe shoes and clothing with no loose fabric. Long hair must be secured in a bun. Bring safety glasses and hearing protection if you have them. NewMakeIt provides safety glasses, earplugs and other required safety equipment for anyone who needs them.
