TWO WAYS TO USE LASER

FUNCTIONAL PARTS OR FINISHED BRAND DETAILS.

Tell us what the result must do—not only which machine you think should make it.

01 · MANUFACTURING

Cut Components

Create templates, panels, spacers, enclosure layers, jigs, fit-test pieces and repeated profiles from approved material.

Explore manufacturing

02 · BRANDING

Engrave + Mark

Add logos, names, patterns, labels and detailed graphics to approved materials, plaques, tags and display elements.

Explore branding

03 · PROTOTYPING

Test Quickly

Cut low-cost forms, packaging shapes, layered models and assembly tests before moving to a slower or more expensive process.

Explore prototyping

04 · SHORT RUNS

Repeat the Layout

Nest matching parts or branded pieces efficiently once the file, material and sample result are approved.

SAFE MATERIALS ONLY

THE LASER MUST KNOW EXACTLY WHAT IT IS CUTTING.

Every customer-supplied material must be identifiable and approved. Unknown plastics, PVC, vinyl and materials that create unsafe fumes or unpredictable reactions are not accepted.

NewMakeIt may recommend a small test because colour, resin, coating, density and batch variation can affect cutting and engraving results.

  • Identify the exact material and thickness
  • Keep protective films and coatings disclosed
  • State whether the result is cut-through, engraved or surface-marked
  • Provide final dimensions and quantity
  • Describe any required alignment to an existing object

FILE PREPARATION

DESIGN THE FILE FOR CUTTING AND ENGRAVING.

Vector geometry is preferred for precise cutting and line work.

Preferred formatsSVG or vector PDF for cutting and line engraving; high-resolution PNG or JPG may work for raster engraving.
Vector conditionRemove duplicates, close cut paths, outline important text and separate cut, score and engrave elements clearly.
Finished sizeState the exact output dimensions. Do not rely on the apparent size of artwork placed in an email or document.
Object alignmentProvide placement measurements and orientation for engraving an existing object. A jig or test may add setup cost.
Quote factorsMaterial, setup, test cuts, machine time, artwork cleanup, quantity, masking, assembly and finishing.

LASER SERVICE WORKFLOW

MATERIAL. FILE. TEST. RUN.

A test result may be required before a final object or larger batch is produced.

NEXT STEP

DO YOU NEED LASER CUTTING OR ENGRAVING?

Send the artwork or geometry, material, thickness, final size, quantity and deadline.

Independent laser use requires NewMakeIt certification, a current Access Pass or Day Pass, and a machine booking. A staff-run service job does not require customer certification.
