Participants should budget for approximately $100 in material fees to complete their projects, which includes safety equipment.

Description: 

In this workshop, you will build on your basic woodworking skills, to create your own customized end table. In this course, you will learn to use table saws, router, planer, joiner, sander tools, wood joinery, and finishing techniques.  

You will have a choice between 3 different projects: 

  1. a coffee table with 2 drawers
  2. 2 end tables / bedside tables 
  3. a bookcase / shelving unit 

Workshop Structure:

You will receive limited complementary Membership for the wood shop at NewMakeIt during the term of the class, allowing additional time to work on projects and bolster their knowledge.

This class will be a combination of workshop and classroom. Appropriate safety equipment is required. You should budget for approximately $100 in material fees to complete the projects. (Material fee defers based on the type of wood you'd like to use)

This class is classified as “Intermediate”. It’s designed for those with some wood building experience that would like to increase and perfect their skills. You should have a basic understanding of tools and wood construction. 

You’ll be learning and using a variety of different tools like the jointer, planer, Miter saw, table saw, sanders, and more to complete your creations.

Instructor:  Chris Tucker

Chris Tucker is an experienced high school construction technology teacher with a background in architecture. He has been teaching students of all ages the joys of woodworking for over 20 years. Chris uses traditional as well as modern tools in his woodworking projects. Chris is also a freelance writer for the Canadian Woodworking and Home Improvement magazine, and focuses on the integration of digital tools and techniques into the shop.
